PROJECT | STAGES OF CHAOS

Nebula formation, a wild, chaotic and disordered process inside the fiery crucibles of nuclear star reactors. Gaze into the process of star birth and ponder the importance of chaos.

Concept

At the start of this project, we set out to collaborate with the London Science Museum to create an interactive and educational experience for the audience at the Science Museum Lates event on the 6th

of March 2025.

As a starting point, I looked at the stages of life on a very broad scale, with the process of star formation, the distribution of matter within a solar system, basic atomic structure, the formation of simple amino acids and the importance of water.

Process

After the Science Museum pitch, we received valuable feedback from the team on how to present the idea to the larger audience. They suggested splitting the three connected stages to give each one more space, allowing more guests to gather around each section. These changes required redesigning parts of the chambers and removing the connecting sections entirely. With these adjustments, we could focus more on the installations themselves, rather than the complex airflow workarounds and the connections between each part.

Outcomes

Overall, reflecting on the project, it has been very successful from start to finish. The idea has grown and adapted to all the demands necessary to work as a dynamic project for the Science Museum Lates. The initial concepts, while overcomplicated, allowed for a great transition into an engaging and representative project. The balance between mechanical feasibility, visual representation, interactivity and budget constraints made for an engaging and changing process from start till finish.
